Working With ISTE Standards

Once going over to the standards from the ISTE I began to read into them. There are seven in total that break down into sections. I was interested in the 6th one; creative communicator. With this I would create my three assignments using the iPads. The first would be directed to 6C: students break problems into component parts, extract key information, and develop descriptive models to understand complex systems or facilitate problem solving.

Our activity would be mathematic counting using an app on the iPad for addition and subtraction; We would also have just number counting for younger students. They would be asked to remove a certain number of apples from the bunch to get the answer. This allows the student to break up the problem and facilitate problem solving.

Next I would incorporate empowered learning. the subdivided standard 1A, I would allow the students to spend time on study-island a website that has both games and quizzes for all ages and they provide instant reflection on their progress.

Then my las less would instill the idea of digital citizens 2B. This could be taught without a computer and with. The idea of safe computer using should be taught more in schools and how we should not cyberbully, as well as personal safety for each student when creating accounts or giving any information.
